Your day begins in your Scenic Slumber Bed. The midnight sun of the polar world beyond your window has been up all night and is unlikely to awaken you thanks to your block-out blinds, so consider an alarm or wake-up call to make the most of your day. Consider having a coffee or tea delivered by your butler as you prepare for the day ahead. When you’re ready, open the blind and curtains of your suite’s floor to ceiling windows and greet the stunning vistas of Antarctica.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast in the lounge zone of your spacious suite served by your butler or at your choice of the Yacht Club or Azure Cafe. Take in the pristine views of towering glaciers and distant icebergs as you sail through the glassy waters. Afterwards, put on your complimentary polar parka and in suite binoculars and head to the Observation Deck or the Open Bridge to watch for seabirds such as the wandering albatross, shearwaters, giant petrels and more. When you’re ready for your morning Zodiac excursion, join your group at the Scenic Lounge before collecting your included polar boots at the Discovery Centre.

This morning, choose to explore the surrounding waters on an included Scenic Discovery excursion by Zodiac, kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Your Discovery Team is alert to changing conditions, and each excursion is both unique and included. You may cruise past minke or humpback whales cavorting nearby. On a guided shore landing, you may witness Adélie, Chinstrap or Gentoo penguins tending to their cute chicks amid dazzling white icescapes.

If you are visiting early in the season, from late October to early December you may have the rare opportunity to witness Emperor penguins. On select voyages join Scenic Eclipse’s expert Discovery Team on an optional excursion^ to Snow Hill Island for a truly exclusive and lifechanging experience. Home to around 4,000 breeding pairs of Emperor penguins, the island is one of only two colonies on the Antarctic Peninsula. After a short helicopter flight, you’ll land near the island and hike to the colony for a closer view of these charming locals and their fluffy chicks.

For lunch you might choose from light fare at the Azure Bar & Café or something more substantial from the Yacht Club’s grill. Whatever you decide, join your newfound friends and take in the breathtaking sights around you as you discuss your morning and the afternoon ahead.

With only up to 200 guests on board, your polar specialist Discovery Team is able to lead smaller groups on shore landings multiple times per day. The Discovery Team’s expertise spans various fields, from science and geology to biology, glaciology, history and more. As you embark on a guided Zodiac, kayak or stand-up paddleboard trip, they will act as your own expert guide. They will interpret what unfolds before your eyes and offer deep insights into Antarctica.
